Party Drinking Games – What Do You Need To Know

Ever since alcoholic drinks began to become popular over the world, people have been inventing party drinking games to make the alcohol consumption more fun and a little purposeful. There is evidence of the existence of drinking games from the times of ancient Greece. One of the first known games with drinking from ancient Greece is Kottabos, a game that was widely popular from 5th to 4th century Before Christ. The games require some skill, as the players used wine lees to hit a target across the room. Today, there are many similar games to Kottabos, but the most similar and most played is Quarters.

There is also evidence of some really old party drinking games from the times of ancient China. Chinese invented a plenty of drinking games played with a dice and verbal exchange of riddles. Supposedly, the rules of the earliest games were not as complex as they are of today’s games. These days, people willing to play games for drinking may easily get confused from the wide selection. Picking up a favorite game for drinking can be really difficult. To make the choosing process easier, the drinking games can be divided into few classes:

Party Drinking Games Classes:

  • Endurance games;
  • Skills games;
  • Speed games;
  • Verbal games;
  • Drinking games with cards;
  • Games with dice;
  • Games with coin;
  • Games with ball & cup;

Today’s drink games can also be split up in two categories:

  • Simple & Easy To Play: These party drinking games require minimal (or no) additional equipment, so they can be played on the fly.
  • Set-Up Required: These games cannot be played without previous planning and setting up and they usually involve more alcohol and more complex rules.

The games that require only basic skills and are easy to learn how to play are much more popular than those that require set-up. On this way, anyone willing to have fun with their friends can join in and play. Discrimination should not be a part of these games. There are games that can be played by only two players, but most games are designed to be played by as many players as they are. From home parties to bars, drink games are played everywhere, anytime and with as much players as available.

While many people still consider that drink games are for college students that want to get drunk, the truth is that they are suitable for both teenagers and adults looking for new ways of having fun. Indeed, drink games involve drinking alcohol, but they also involve competitiveness, tension, laughs and trash-talks.
